Opened in 1804, Filey Lifeboat Station was one of the first Lifeboat stations to be established and had been active for 20 years before the Royal National Lifeboat Institution took over, making it one of the longest serving Lifeboat stations in the country.
With a supporting shop alongside, the station is open most days for holidaymakers to visit and look around - be it around the smaller, D Class Inshore Lifeboat - "Braund" - on the ground floor or up on the viewing balcony. This platform overlooks the stations' Mersey Class All Weather Lifeboat - "The Keep Fit Association."
